A recent article in the Sun Sentinel stated that buying is cheaper than renting. While that may be true most home buyers out there are finding themselves priced out of the market with the surge in home sales and rising mortgage rates. Frustrated buyers often give up and decide to stay in their current residence where rent may be somewhat controlled. Many of my clients come to me in search of a new rental home only to be dissapointed with the current rental rates. This dissapointment is forcing people to stay in their current rental units and renew their leases at a more competitive rate than would be if they tried to move. This dissapointment is creating a viscious cycle in the availabilty of rentals which also contributes to the increase in rental rates throughout South Florida.
